House of Blues

Posted by Lena at 02:53 PM on September 8, 2004.

On Sunday night, me and 3 other friends went to the House of Blues on Sunset in Hollywood. There was an Indian singer from the group called "Rishi Rich Project" from London coming to perform and I love that group!! I was disappointed though that only the singer from that group came and not the DJ. Oh well, it was still cool seeing him on stage. And it was fun dancing with my friends!

I went bowling over the weekend with my cousin (who treated us) and their kids (my nieces) and 1 of their b/f's and it was funny cause we entered this raffle drawing and during the night they would call out names to win a prize (it was midnight bowling) and they called 1 name and that person didn't claim the prize and I was saying oh I hope they call me or someone from our group. So then they called another name and that person didn't claim their prize. And then I told my niece I never win I'm not gonna get called. And then they called me!!! Out of like 50 people probably!!! WOW I was more happy to be called then for the prize. haha The prize was a ticket for 2 for midnight bowling which is like a $30 dollar deal so not bad. Yea that place was expensive for bowling! But yea it was so cool getting my name called, Go Lena!

Thursday night TV

Posted by Lena at 03:57 PM on September 10, 2004.

So what did the people who watched "Joey" last night on TV think? I thought it was funny! And I hope that it did well enough that it will last. He is so funny!! And I thought the actress that plays his sister did well too.

What about Apprentice?? WOW it was good!! I love Apprentice. My sister & brother-in-law recently went to New York City and went to the front of Trump Tower and to the NBC store and brought me back a "You're Fired" mug and my sister got a Trump Tower pen. I badly badly need to go visit New York!
I think the cast will be pretty cool this season and it's gonna be stretched out to 18 weeks since there are 18 candidates, well now 17! WHOOHOO!!! That was cool how they got to create a new toy for Mattel, I would love to do that, though coming with ideas is pretty hard.

Friday!!

Posted by Lena at 10:06 AM on September 17, 2004.

YAY It's FRIIIIIIDAY!!!!!!!! Don't you just love Fridays??!?!? I do!!
And tomorrow is the best day in the whole world!!! YAY!!! I wish though I didn't have to get a year older...but at least it only comes once a year.
I'm so looking forward to this weekend...it should be fun! Specially cause I have such awesome friends.

Last weekend I saw the movie "Cellular." Has anyone seen it? It was actually pretty good. Me and my friend went for a late movie and wanted to see that and I never even heard of it and was worried that I would fall asleep, but the movie was exciting that it made you stay awake cause it was kinda suspenseful like you wanna know what's gonna happen. So I would recommend it but probably on DVD. Cause movies these days are sooooo expensive! Well unless you use your student ID card.

Yesterday at work was so horrible cause the air conditioning broke!! And I was sitting in a room with like 45-50 computers and breathing students to it got really yucky humid and bleh. And the funny thing was that it was SUCH a nice day yesterday. I hope tomorrow is as nice too!!!

My Birthday Weekend

Posted by Lena at 11:01 PM on September 20, 2004.

I had SUCH a wonderful and fun weekend!! So sad to see it go but
the memories & pictures (thanks to Dana, Phuong, Jeff and picture takers) will always be there.

Friday I came in to work and right when I got to my desk, there was a cake and gifts! My 2 co-workers bought me a deeeelicious reeses pieces chocolate cake. One of them got me an Astrological Signs book and the other got me a gift bag from Bath & Body (Sweet Pea...smells sooo good). Then Friday night my good friend Sapna + 2 other friends took me to Cheesecake Factory and then we went bowling.

On Saturday, my birthday day, I woke up really early and my sister
bought me pancakes (a tradition we have been doing the past 5 years) and I was watching Anaconda on tv. The snake looked real to me but the movie was scary. Plus too many people got hurt so that kinda sucked. Then my brother-in-law treated me to a haircut (he got one too). We went to this place really close to the house. Then I got home and left to go over to UC Riverside's College of Engineering Alumni event. It was actually pretty fun! It was so nice to see people we haven't seen in many years. And to see a couple of old professors that actually remember us! Then afterwards I went over to Dana & Al's place and they had a cheesecake waiting for me!! So sweet!!! Thank you guys!!! And awesome looking kitchen! Oh and then we all were watching this Indian comedian on Al's computer...he was hilarious! Then I went home and me, my sister, and my brother-in-law went to Chili's for dinner + a drink.

Then Sunday was Hollywood day!! I had such a blast!!! Thank you soooooo much Dana, Al, Phuong, Sze Wan, Roland, Jeff, Lucinda, Ryan, Qi & Cuong!! I feel so special and am really lucky to have friends like you. The restaurant we went to "Cha Cha Cha's" was so cool and yummy. I really liked the bathroom cause you feel like you're in a jungle b/c of the painted walls and the monkey/bird noises. haha And it was so cool getting surprised with the mango cheesecake and candle. Then it was off to Hollywood/Highland which was so cool!! YAY I got my hand pictured with Arnold Swartzeneggar's hand!! And we walked around and ended up going to Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. It was so weird to see all the stuff that has happened to people. It's like unbelievable!! Then we walked around more and I was able to get some education from my friends that day (ice cream...) haha
Afterwards we went back to the Kodak area and went to Build-a-Bear where I built my bear Kobe! He's so cuuuuute!! YAY! That was actually really fun...specially the fluffing part! Dana also built one, she made a Koala named Cha Cha. Afterwards we went to Cold Stone and I got some yummy Coconut Cream Pie ice cream and then me, Phuong, Dana & Al took off. It was an awesome day and hopefully we can all spend time again like that. After I got home, me and my sister went to my cousin's house cause my niece's b/f proposed to her on Saturday night so we went to congratulate her. I also found out that on Saturday, my cousin got promoted to manager of her store! Wow my bday was good luck for both of them! YAY! After we had dinner, I noticed that they shut off the kitchen lights and everyone looked at me and started singing happy birthday and a cake came out!! That was a surprise too!! I didn't expect that! So my weekend was full of surprises, cakes and wonderful company...what more could I want...

Wedding/Engagements

Posted by Lena at 10:55 AM on September 27, 2004.

I don't know about you but I feel that so many people are getting married in the near future. What's up with people proposing...and weddings coming up. I guess that's good but then it's not good if it's u're friends who probably won't talk to you once they are married.

This past weekend I went to my niece's/cousin's house cause she recently got engaged (on my bday!) and the whole family went over to meet the guys' mom & dad. It was a fun event. His parents are real nice...and they have a beauuuuuuuuuuuutiful car. It's a custom-made ferrari for the mom. Lucky!!! I want a custom-made ferrari!!

Then Saturday I went to my brother-in-law's cousin's wedding. That was so nice! She's an Indian who got married to an American so it was American style wedding with the "I do's" and white wedding dress but we wore Indian. It was at a golf course country club. When people walked in they had to get their picture taken via a polaroid camera and then sign the guestbook under their picture. I ended up being the one who took the pictures so I missed the wedding. But that's okay cause it was nice to help the family and I didn't want anyone else to miss the wedding and I barely met the bride on Friday. So I took the polaroid pictures...and kept thinking of the Outkast song!! hehe I heard that people had to be driven in a golf cart to get to the wedding site!! wow...and then I missed the beginning of the reception cause people were still lingering in and I had to watch the money box/gifts. Indian standard time arrivals. But when I got there for food it was yummy. They had a choice of Indian cuisine or Mexican cuisine...most people went for the Indian. I did too! On the table was caramel candy apples (I thought of Phuong !) as a party favor and a small box containing 1 See's candies. And it was open bar so that was interesting. One girl was throwing up b/4 the dancing started! And luckily I didn't catch the bouquet...whoohoo!!!

Then Sunday I went with my sister to an engagement party. It was at an Indian restaurant so at least I got more Indian food.

But wow...just in September me and my sister know a lot of people that got engaged and I have 3 friends' weddings left for this year but am only going to 2 since 1 is in India.
