September flies by...

Posted by Lena at 03:02 PM on September 28, 2005.

Wow I can't believe September is almost done!  Time just is moving wayyyyyy too fast!  And I love September (probably cause it's my birthday month! hehe)

I still miss my internship a lot!  It was a good internship and I hope they will hire me someday.  The people were so fun to work with and I loved living out in LA!  There is so much to see, do, and eat!  And Burbank was pretty cool too...it's so cool to be next to Warner Brothers lot, near NBC, Disney Studios....it's like media capital of the world!  You just never know who you'll see!  Though I didn't see anyone!   Well I saw the set of Gilmore Girls but I don't even watch that show!  But the studio tour was fun!  And Warner Music gave me a bunch of CD's to take home...got a lot of 80's stuff which I love.

Then it was my niece's 11-day wedding!  That was toooo much fun!  I still have to put pictures up from that.  I took soooo many pictures!  It was pretty much a two-week event cause we went to my cousins house everyday to just decorate, sing and dance and just hang out with my family. Then the festivities started on Aug. 26th and didn't end till Sept 5th.  A couple of the events were: "Night in White" party at the Hollywood and Vine Vine Lounge where it was all youngsters; the mendhi(henna)/sangeet(singing) party where there were about 450 people and me and my niece's and nephews performed a dance and was a lot of fun; the wedding overlooking the ocean in Huntington Beach and where the groom rode in an elephant; the reception where there were about 800-900 people and the bride and groom rode in a cute lighted carriage. and the exciting events in between the whole week.

After that was my birthday!!!    I was so lucky to have a very special birthday this year.  Friday at work my boss & supervisor had cupcakes and gifts for me.  So sweet!  My boss gave me a frame and my supervisor knitted me a scarf!  She made me one for my trip to Europe in March and now she knitted me a pink one.   My fav color!  Then Saturday my 2 good married friends took me for dinner at this Indian rest. in Irvine called Chakra.  Then Sunday I felt so special cause I got a surprise bday party and didn't know about it!  My nieces Aishwarya and Anuja took me to downtown Brea for lunch and we went to Color Me Mine which is a place where you pick something to paint, paint it and they put it in an oven and after a week pick it up.  I painted an ice cream cone and it came out nice!  I'll take a pic and put it up.  It was so nice of them to do that for me.  Then I got home and I saw my 3 nephews outside and thought something might be happening and then yay to my surprise!    It was fun!  And thanks to all who came!  I don't like getting old but I love birthdays!  And a bigger surprise was my niece & her new husband who had just come back from Australia that morning from her honeymoon showed up!!  YAY Ramya!

And then last weekend I was supposed to go with my Cal State friends to Las Vegas but I couldn't go so I was really bummed about that.   I was trying to persuade them to postpone until I can afford to go but that's hard since the hotel was booked like 2/3 months ago!  Oh well...they all had fun without me.  Hopefully there'll be other times.  We all went in May and had a blast so I'm sure we'll get other opportunities.  And at least I got to do other stuff then too & see my UCR friends...and got to accompany Dana to the Bridal Expo where we had sample wedding cake, chocolate from the chocolate fountain and got to meet different vendors!  That was fun!  Thanks Dana!

Now on to Dana & Al's studio pics this weekend! WHOOHOO!!

And Laker season starts soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been so busy

Posted by Lena at 12:41 PM on August 31, 2005.

Wow I haven't posted in like ages!!!  So thought I'd post a quick one to say hi.   I've been so busy with my niece Ramya's wedding preparations and festivities.  After I moved back home from LA we went to my cousin's house every night to just be with the family, sing, dance and decorate the house.  Then last Saturday the wedding festivities started and won't end till Monday Sept 5th.  It's been soooooooo much fun!!!  Indian weddings are so so so much fun and are week long events.  Everyday we get to dress up and have fun and it's so fun & exciting!  And you know how I LOVE to dress up!!  Tonite is a youngster's party in Hollywood, so all of the groom's friends & cousins and my niece's friends & cousins are gonna go to a club and party!!  There is supposed to be around 90 ppl!  WhooHOO!!  And us cousin's and me and my sister are taking a limo out there!  Then tomorrow is the henna party event with about 450 people, Friday is another couple of events, Saturday is the wedding, and Sunday is the reception with about 700+ people so that should be exciting!!

Us girls (my nieces and my sister and me) got our henna (called mendhi in Hindi) done yesterday....It's pretty!  I will post a picture!  I love henna!!  Although you can't wash your hands that much so that means I can't drink too much!! Darn!  But it's okay!   Cause the darker your henna that means the more your husband or u're husband's mom loves you...not that I'm gonna have a husband or anything!

I'm gonna be party and family deprived after all these events are done..but at least I'll have tons of pictures and Dana's wedding to look forward too!!!!

I'm Home!

Posted by Lena at 07:56 PM on March 27, 2005.

Home Sweet Home!   So nice to be home.  I just got back from Europe today and it was a looooooooooooong flight.  We left London at 8:55am (London time) and landed around 12am (London time) so it was a 15 hour trip total cause we had a stopover in JFK for like 1.5 hours...and of course we had to do customs in NY so of course of luggage is still there!!  I know...my luggage is not with me!!   Hopefully we'll get it tomorrow!  It has my beans!  I brought 4 cans of baked beans...it's a morning breakfast item they eat in London and it's delicious!

Anyways...I haven't slept in over 48 hours so I'm pooped!  Good nite

Paris

Posted by Lena at 04:47 PM on March 18, 2005.

Hi!!  or shall I say Bonjour!  I'm in Paris right now at 12:40 am, or LA 3/40pm Friday and we are in an Internet cafe;  We went all the way up Eiffel Tower today!!  Very nice views.  Paris is a very old city with lovely cathedrals and buildings.  Tomorrow we are gonna climb up towers of Notre Dame.  The keyboard here has everything mixed up....like you need to tab to hit the period key and the tab is not tab....it's where the shift on the right side is.

Plane ride was scary but the movie watching was cool.  I'm ready- to come home but I love seeing new things.  We go to Barcelona on Sunday night.  Things are expensive out here!!!  The Euro is cool looking though!

Well just wanted to say hi and I miss home!!!

Au revoir!!!  we learned some French phrases!!  Oh I had french fries today!

Off to Europe

Posted by Lena at 12:23 AM on March 16, 2005.

So I'm leaving for Europe tomorrow and I'm sooooooooooo nervous!!  Mostly the plane ride is giving me frog size butterflies in my tummy...but otherwise just nervous about leaving home for so long.  I've never been away from CA for so long but this is just what I need to face my fear of flying + live a little!    I'm just freaking out right now cause I want to make sure I pack everything and leave nothing out.  But most importantly, my digital camera is ready to go!  WHOOHOO!!  Pictures galore!

On Monday morning I got to my work and there was a wrapped gift for me at my desk.  One of my bosses, Desi, knitted me a scarf for the cold in London.  Isn't that soooo sweet!!!  That was so awesome of her!  And then I went and said bye to my co-workers and gave them all hugs..I'm gonna miss them.  I know it's only 10 days, but I get people attached!

And today I got off work early and went to find a small gift for my friend Maria in Barcelona, cause I wanted to get her something for showing us around, and so my sister suggested Bath & Body works.  So I went there but thought, oh she could probably get that there in Europe, but I asked the lady and the lady said they only have Bath & Body Works in the Continental US...so not Hawaii or Alaska!!  So my friend Maria will get something American!  hehe   And I can buy myself something Spain!

Okay wish me luck and Happy Birthday Sze Wan!!!!!

New movie

Posted by Lena at 10:27 PM on February 13, 2005.

So last night me, my sister and some friends went to see the new movie "Bride and Prejudice" with this famous Indian actress Aishwarya Rai. I thought it was a pretty good and funny movie. If you have seen "Bend it Like Beckham" then I think you'll like this too. It's kinda like an Indian movie but with Americans in it too and of course it's in English. The movie takes place in the state of Punjab in India, some parts of London and LA!!! GO LA!!

And I can't believe it's Monday already!! But next weekend is long weekend and it's the NBA All-Star game on Sunday!! WhooHOO!! Kobe is back so hopefully he'll play in the game. But oh my goodness, Lakers are NOT doing well right now.....ahHHH!!!

I felt snow!!!!!!!

Posted by Lena at 02:39 PM on January 3, 2005.

FINALLY I got to feel real snow! WHOOHOO!!! It was sooooo cool! I love it! I wish it would snow here sometimes...actually no maybe I don't but I really liked it!
My cousin's and their kids rented a cabin in Big Bear for Jan. 1-3 and invited me, my sister and brother-in-law along with them. (but we left yesterday Jan. 2). The 3 of us drove up Saturday afternoon...the traffic was crazy! We left at 2:30 and got to the cabin by 7pm. When we got there, I wanted to play in the snow so me and my nieces and nephews (my cousins kids) went nearby to snow, nice soft snow and threw snowballs (some hurt!!!), made snow angels like they do on tv and tried to make a snowman...it looks so easy on tv but it's hard to make! My littlest nephew had somewhat of a sled so we went down some snow with that. Then we all came back and my whole family played the board game Cranium...so fun! We were up late and during the nite I couldn't sleep but I kept looking out the window and our view was the view of the slopes so it was awesome...and you could totally see so many stars in the sky.
Sunday we all took skiing lessons. I didn't like it. I couldn't get the hang of it...I sucked! First of all, it's so hard to stop. The ski instructor sucked too! And we went up the lift thingy and when I got to the top I fell and the other lift almost hit me so they stopped it so I could get out of the way. And coming down the hill was crazy!!! I just wanted to go back on the lift cause that was fun! Though the fear of heights wasn't helping. But it was cool. It's really hard to stop once you get going....the only way I stopped was when I fell. Though falling in the snow was kinda fun. haha But my fingers were so cold they were numb and my mouth too...it's pretty cold up there. But I had a good time...learned something new. And then we had to leave cause there was a snowstorm on the way. Though it would have been nice to see falling snow...maybe next time. And coming home was easy...no traffic except on the 10 freeway but that's normal for LA! haha

Lakers vs. Heat tomorrow!!!!!

Posted by Lena at 08:04 PM on December 24, 2004.

Tomorrow is the anticipated (well I have been antipating it) Lakers vs. Heat game, or aka...Kobe vs. Shaq!!!
How exciting?!?!? Are you excited or what!!! It's at 12pm...watch!
I hope Lakers win! GO LAKERS!

And whoohoo...a week off of work for me. It's exciting cause I finally get to sleep in...I've been so lack of sleep for the past 3 weeks! I came home late yesterday and fell asleep on the freeway...woke up and I was entering the carpool lane and had just passed my exit. That's bad huh? But now finally get to catch up on much needed sleep.

Last Friday I was maid of honor at one of my best friend's wedding. It was such an honor and so much fun!!! I was busy all day and at nite it was fun dancing and meeting people. I also was very nervous for my speech but everyone said they liked it! YAY!!!! I'll post some pics soon.

Have a happy holiday!!! And yay 2 days till the friends dinner!

Vegas!

Posted by Lena at 02:28 PM on November 22, 2004.

This past weekend I went to Vegas for a bachelorette party. It was fun! But I guess I'm not too much of a Vegas fan cause after 1 night I was so ready to come home. It's too smoky there. You enter a casino and leave with your hair smelling like smoke as well as your clothes! And people are crazy!!! WOW weirdos I tell ya!

Anyways...coming home yesterday was ridiculous! We left around 1:30 and didn't get back till 10PM!!! 8 1/2 hours!!! What happened was that there was a snowstorm the night before and it snowed in the Cajon Pass and they had to shut it for some time and also there was ice on the road so people were driving slow. It's kinda scary to drive in the snow...how do east coasters do it?!?! So it took about 4 hours to get 15 miles! Then when we got a little before Barstow, it started snowing!! That was my first snowfall. I've never seen or felt snow before so I was all excited but everyone else was like oh great! haha Unfortunately I didn't get to feel the snow falling cause we couldn't stop the car but oh well...I'll definitely have to experience that again, but not driving next time! So we got off at Barstow and ice was falling so I got a picture in that. YAY!! Plus I was opening my mouth and it was falling in...yummy ice! haha The snow went on till after Victorville. Who knew it snowed in Victorville!?!? It was so cool seeing cars covered in snow and snow filled tree tops. How exciting! I badly wanted to go outside.

Happy Diwali!!

Posted by Lena at 04:07 PM on November 12, 2004.

Today is the festival of lights in India, which is called Diwali. Houses are supposed to cleaned, lighted and left open to welcome goddess Lakshmi, who is the goddess of wealth. It's a fun holiday in India, kinda like how Christmas is here.
And then Sunday is another Indian holiday called Bhai Duj. Sisters do a prayer for their brothers (and/or cousin brothers) and us girls receive a gift (I have 3 cousin brothers so 3 gifts...whoohoo!). My family is celebrating it tomorrow @ 8am!! I have to wake up so early on Saturday!! That's okay cause I love my family.

I had a good week but I'm so glad it's finally Friday!!
Last weekend on Friday my work took us to Knott's Berry Farm. It was so much fun!! I went on all the roller coasters and many other rides. It was Friday so Knott's wasn't packed at all so there were hardly any lines. 1 of the rides made my neck hurt bad but other than that, it was awesome! Then Saturday me and Phuong went for Indian food in Pasadena and then saw The Incredibles . Good movie!! I highly recommend seeing it on big screen. Then Sunday me and her 2 other bridesmaids threw my very good friend a birdal shower. It went really well and I was really stressing out that morning, so I was soooooo happy it went well!

I went to the mall this week after work and it was all decorated with Christmas decorations and they had Santa's sitting area all set up. This holiday is so pretty and everyone is so happy...I love it! And I can't wait for Thanksgiving break. Shopping time!!!

Lakers 2004

Posted by Lena at 10:21 AM on November 4, 2004.

Oh my...did anyone see yesterday's game. Bummer...they didn't do well at all!! And it's the Utah Jazz...they should have beat them! Awww...I just hope they were having a bad day. I didn't catch the whole game but the part I saw was sad. At least they did well with Denver but Denver isn't hard to beat either. Tomorrow they play San Antonio. Good luck Lakers!! It's not preseason anymore, they gotta kick some butt!!

So my Vegas trip was fun!! We met up friends from Arizona there and went on the New York New York roller coaster ride which was soooooooo much fun!!! Me and my friend sat in the way front and it's such a cool view and it's almost a vertical drop down. So fun! We then went clubbing at night which was a lot of fun too. Vegas clubs are nice and big. And they played cool music...whoohoo!
And came home just in time on Sunday to give kids candy. That was fun...they are so adorable. We got these siblings that were dressed like Scooby Doo, Wilma, and Shaggy. Awwww....

And oh my gosh...voting was crazy this year! I left work at 6 and didn't get to my city to the voting poll till 7:15! That's unusually crazy traffic for that time since I didn't drive a long distance that day. And then I was in line till about 8:20 and that's when I got to vote. I waited for an hour! I totally wouldn't have but I was excited to vote since I didn't vote in the 2000 election. And I wanted a sticker.

Whoohoo Weekend!!!

Posted by Lena at 12:27 PM on October 29, 2004.

YAY Friiiiiiiiiiday!!! And I'm really excited for this weekend cause me and my sister and a friend are going to Vegas to meet our Phoenix friends. YAY!!! We're leaving Saturday early morning and coming back early Sunday cause Sunday night is an Indian holiday that we are going to celebrate at my cousin's house. Plus I wanna be back so I can give out candy to the kids before we leave for my cousins...last year we had soooo many kids come by and I just LOVE their outfits and how they say, "trick or treat!" awwwww

So hasn't our weather been so weird! Remember last year how we had those many many fires in October and it was raining ash and this year it's actually raining water! It's like goodbye summer hello winter..what happened to Fall?? haha Well today is actually a really nice Fall day. And hopefully Halloween will be nice too!
And I'm kinda bummed cause we change time this weekend...I don't like that at 5pm it'll be dark. Darn!

And a VERY happy Birthday to Phuong tomorrow!! Have a wonderful day and have a great time at the concert!

And GO LAKERS!!! The season starts on Nov. 2nd, Lakers vs. Denver. Finally it's Lakers season!! YAY!!!

Lakers back

Posted by Lena at 10:24 PM on October 12, 2004.

But with a whollllllllle new look. Today was the opening exhibition game against Seattle Supersonics and Lakers lost. They were doing so well, up by 10 during the half, but then Seattle came back stronger.
But what sucked most not seeing my Derek Fisher. And of course Phil Jackson gone, Shaq gone...argh! Oh well, it'll be an interesting season.
Sunday they play Golden State which means....FISHER!!! But of course Lakers will win!
